Oldest Rock N Roll Show Drummer In America
Welcome to the rich hovey and the classics all star band official website!
At the age of 79, Rich Hovey embarked on an extraordinary musical journey, proving it’s never too late to chase a dream. Under the guidance of his talented drum instructor, Michael Baez, Rich quickly mastered the drums and, within just two years, formed Rich Hovey and The Classics All Star Band with Michael’s help.
Since then, the band has captivated audiences with their electrifying performances while giving back to the community. They’ve played multiple concerts, showing their unwavering commitment to supporting veterans.
Rich Hovey and The Classics All Star Band continue to expand their reach, partnering with charities and performing at venues across the USA. Their inspiring story and heartfelt music remind us all that it’s never too late to make a difference.
As of this writing Rich has a standing booking for the famous American Theatre in Hampton Virginia for Rich Hovey and The Classics to be part or open for the award winning Broadway production of “All Hands on Deck” by renowned Broadway Producer Jody Madaras.
Rich Hovey Show Drumming Style™ is Rich’s personal, performance-driven approach to the drums, built around energy, personality and showmanship.
Rather than simply remaining behind the kit, Rich believes the drummer can become part of the visual experience of a live performance. His style combines energetic accents, dramatic crashes, expressive movement and his signature drumstick twirl to bring another element of entertainment to the stage.
Rich’s journey behind the drums is as distinctive as his performance style. He began drumming at age 79 under the guidance of respected drum instructor Mike Baez, proving that passion and the desire to perform don’t come with an expiration date.
Now performing with Rich Hovey and The Classics All Star Band, Rich continues developing his Show Drumming Style through live performances, rehearsals and double drum collaborations with Baez.
More than drumming, it’s part of the show.
